The city of Gorakhpur predates
a small city next to "Kushinagar" where Lord Gautam Buddha breathed
his last. Since then it was only during the early 80's that Gorakhpur
developed into a major city and became a centre for pilgrimage on account
of its proximity with Kushinagar and more so because of the famous temple
of "Gorakhnath" situated in the city itself. It thus gradually
became the centre of learning for all neighbouring towns and cities especially
from across Nepal, which is only about 90 odd kilometres from here.
St. Paul's was the first I.C.S.E affiliated school of this town then;
and of the neighbouring region as well.
